2008 was a year of personal growth as Terry lead two 5-month training schools, graduating 31 students. As part of their field assignment, they were divided into smaller teams that shared God's love in word and deed with hundreds in: the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Curaçao, Peru, North Africa and China.
Roberta led the field assignment for a community development school, staffed a youth camp, and taught English classes to a few Dominicans in our local community.
Philip participated in a youth trip to Turkey where they served disabled children. He's now in his last year of high school.

2007 Recap
In 2007 we took a 5 month course in community development which included a 2 month field assignment. We chose an assignment of teaching English in Azerbaijan, a country located between Russia and Iran in Central Asia. Although we didn't learn the language (Azerbaijani), we developed friendships with the students who spoke English. We were fascinated by the people and culture and hope to return in the future. On the road again... AGAIN!
We pick up Kevin in Chicago, Wed. Aug 8 and plan to visit the Wade Center at Wheaten College which contains the original works of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.
We have a few more days in Goshen, IN with our parents and a Bontrager side get-together on Sunday, Aug 12. Then the serious traveling begins.
Sun, Aug 12 - Upland, IN with the Jim & Kathy English family (The English family are friends we met in MN in 1991.)
Mon, Aug 13 - Independence, KY (Cincinnati, OH) with Amy & Cory Linfield (Cory was a student in our last DTS in the D.R.) and staying at the Ed & CJ Landis family home. (We were in Spanish language school with the Landis family in 2002 in Guadalajara, Mexico.)
Tue-Wed, Aug 14-15 - Millersburg, OH with the Randy & LuAnn Graber family. (Randy and Terry go way back to grade school. Their son Aaron spent the summer of 2005 with us in the D.R.)
Thu-Sat, Aug 16-18 - Lewisberry, PA to deliver Kevin to The Purple Door concert festival and then on to Harrisonburg, VA to stay with Roberta's sister Retha Baer.
Sun-Mon, Aug 19-20 - Rogersville, TN to the United Methodist Church for a youth meeting. (Jeff Millard, youth pastor, brought a team to the D.R. in June 2007.)
Tue-Wed, Aug 21-22 - Clyde, NC with Rob and Sopheak Dolman, friends from our DTS in 2002.
Thu-Sat, Aug 23-25 - Robbinsville, NC with Rob and Robbin Mason, who have been to the D.R. several times. Their son Seth recorded music with Kevin and Philip. It's not a gold album or anything, but it's a start!
After that... we're not sure where we'll be. (more to come)

On the road again...
Travel Update
We're currently in Colorado Springs getting to know Amber's Air Force world.
We've enjoyed meeting her friends and hanging out.
We've also reconnected with friends from our own Training School (2002) in Colorado Springs. They are the support team for the front-line workers in
Central Asia where we will be going in November for our community
development (FCD) field assignment. We were able to look at pictures and get
an idea of what it will be like. What an unexpected blessing!
The later part of the week will be spent in Milliken, Colorado with Kristen
Schultz (member of our team for the FCD field assignment) and family.

We now have a cell phone in the US. Call us at 719-237-5177. The phone also

July Road Trip
We were able to get a good deal leasing a car (thanks to Josh at
www.mats.org) which we will pick up in Miami, Florida on July 11. That gives
us the opportunity to visit some friends and family along the east coast as
we make our way to Indiana.
